2. Longer shelf life

4. Lack of Nutrients

Organic Food

The extreme opposite of processed food would be organic food. The simplest way to distinguish between processed food and organic food is the way in which they have been cultivated, what additives are used for their growth and if they are free from any chemical substances. 4. No synthetic chemicals
Organic food products have been shown to contain higher levels of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants than their conventionally-grown counterparts that contain preservatives and synthetic chemicals. These nutrients are essential for overall health and well-being and can help reduce the risk of chronic diseases such as heart disease, cancer, and stroke.

Disadvantages

1. Shorter life span
Organic food is grown without the use of synthetic pesticides and fertilisers. This means that organic farmers have to be extra careful about their crop rotation and soil management practices to ensure that their crops are healthy and free from pests and diseases. As a result, organic food might have a shorter shelf life than conventionally grown food.

2. Expensive and more work required of the producers
Organic food is also generally more expensive than conventionally grown food. The price of organic fruits and vegetables can be as much as 30% higher than their non-organic counterparts. This is because they require a lot of work to produce.

As organic food farmers place a strong emphasis on using natural growing techniques, more physical work is needed to get products to the market because there may be less automated procedures involved. Natural fertilisers like green manure might have to be dispersed by hand to reduce the environmental impact of a tractor and supporting machinery. Although these measures enhance the soil condition, they will also increase the price of the product that households can buy.
